This course will prepare you to become a Master Service Technician (MST) in small engines. Each student will receive a five year subscription to an online digital copy of the Briggs and Stratton Small Engines book in addition to the online course. At the completion of this course, you will be registered as a Technician on the Briggs and Stratton Power Portal. The information that you learn from this course will help prepare you with the knowledge needed in order to pass all 5 of Briggs and Stratton's MST exams. Even if you are not interested in taking the MST exams and receiving a certification, you will learn the parts of the engine, how they run, and how to troubleshoot problems in real world applications.
In order to get the most out of this course, it is recommended that you do things in the following order:
To truly learn about small engines, you should have an engine that you can take apart / put together and study hands-on while you are going through this course. This is something that you may already have. If not, you can find one at a thrift store, online, or even locally from someone offloading a piece of equipment that doesn't work. The engine can be any brand of engine and does not have to be Briggs & Stratton as the concepts are universal for most small engines. You may find an engine you can use in a lawn mower, edger, tiller, pressure washer or other similar piece of equipment.
